The Power of Routine
One of the biggest tips I give my clients is to focus on developing a healthy routine. This often starts with picking one or two things that they can realistically fit into their current schedule. We are all busy with things like work, family, friends, chores, errands, and more. One of the biggest excuses I hear for not choosing to pursue healthy habits is, “I just don’t have time.”
Guess what? You do have time. It is a mental game. It’s not a matter of “having” time, it’s making the most of the time you have. When you are not in a routine, adding even one extra thing to a busy schedule can be overwhelming, but not if you start slow!
I depend on my routine for my health and my sanity. I try to repeat my routine as many days of the week as possible. The more successful I am, the better I feel. The longer I do it, the easier it becomes. You are no different. I recommend starting with something manageable, like getting 20 minutes of exercise in the morning before you start the rest of your day, taking a walk during your lunch break, or prepping a healthy meal over the weekend.
Whatever you choose, stick to it for at least 2 weeks. Once you get that under your belt, add another piece. Eventually, you will see that it is not only doable, but that you feel better because of it!
